THE USE OF MAGNETIC TESTING RESULTS FOR THE MODEL CONSTRUCTION OF THE WEAKENING OF WIRE ROPES
RoundTable – HOW SAFE IS A ROPE? – Krakow 1981
Introduction
Wire ropes operating in industrial installations as the carrying and hauling elements are subjected to alternating stresses, which accompanied by the environmental factors cause their deterioration. By the notion deterioration in the general meaning we understand the loss of the operational serviceability e. g. the passing of the rope, with the time, as a constructional .element into the operational unfitness. The usability of the rope can be judged by the value of the actual breaking load, measured at the time of the assessment. This value has been assumed as the base for the evaluation of the allowable deterioration level [4]. The value of the actual breaking load of the rope in operation cannot be evaluated in the direct way.
