Contact pressure and steel wire rope endurance

In the postulation that: "The contact pressure must be considered an important parameter of the wire rope endurance",  nothing new is said. Even before Drükker and Tachau published their "new design criterion for wire ropes'' in 1945, the influence of the contact pressure on the application of wire ropes was the object of many studies.
