Fatigue Tests on Tension Ropes after Ten Years of Work
RoundTable – WIRE ROPE DISCARD CRITERIA - Zurich 1989
This report examines the state of the tension ropes after that they were get down at the maturity of ten years as the Italian specifications prescribe. The experimental values of the classic tests on wires, of the static breakage load of the rope and of the fatigue tests of a rope Ø 12 mm when it was new and after the use of ten years on skilifts facilities were compared. It is possible to express an opinion on the discarding criterion by the comparison of the results of the fatigue behaviour and of those of the tensional, flexural and torsional strength of wires and static traction on the rope.
