FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF WIRE ROPE STIFFNESS

Summary

This article describes how the longitudinal and lateral elasticity of wire ropes can be determined experimentally and by numerical simulation. To this end, the experimental procedure is described and how it was implemented in the finite element simulation. Finally, the results from the numerical calculation and from experiments are compared.
