Influence of contact pressures

The breaking loads of wire ropes, established using the standard regulations, are based on static loads which are multiplied by so called "dynamic load factor" with consideration paid to the dynamic forces. It is, however, well known that in some cases the fatigue resistance cannot be based on static resistance. The intention to determine as accurately as possible the load capacity of dynamicly charged wire ropes has been advanced during the last few years by the research project carried out by O.I.P.E.E.C .. During the last congress we became acquainted with important results produce by the modern "Continuous-Research" concerning wire ropes.
