Life Expectancy Estimation of Overhead Transmission Line Conductors under Aeolian Vibration

The aim of the following paper is to present the endurance problems encountered in a special category of cables, namely the conductors of overhead power lines. After an introduction to the subject the main chapters of this paper deal with design roules and their impact on the economy of the line, estimation of life expectancy of conductors, field inspection and assessment of damage, and finally repair measurers and discard criteria. Particular attention is also given in the presentation of historical developments as well as todays current state of knowledge and treatment of this subject.
