Lifts with traction sheave with plastic lining: the survey of the wire ropes

The endurance of wire ropes depends on a lot of factors. Quite a number of studies made up to now, showed that the pressure stress played a very important role among these factors. With this pressure stress is associated the nature of the grove in which the wire rope runs. In case this grove is coated with plastic material, the behaviour in service of the wire rope on such a pulley will be quite different from that of a same wire rope running in the same pulley but without plastic coating, all other factors remaining the same.
