Magnetic testing of small elevator ropes at tight spacing
Technical Meeting The Non-destructive Testing of Rope – Krakow 1995
This paper discusses the problems of magnetic testing of elevator ropes at tight rope spacing. Today's elevator designs are limited, e.g. plastic lined grooves, Lang's lay ropes. ln general these innovative features are not ideal, because the discard criteria are not occurring in a reliable way. The author shows the advantages of changes in elevator design and the need for a rope testing method. The first results of a newly developed testing system are presented.
