 In the Koepe winding-systems of the German Federal Republic, the criterion for evaluating the life-span of a winding-rope is the winding-work per kilogram of rope. What is meant is the gross evaluation, which comprises the total effective weight hoisted and the total dead weight hoisted. This evaluation is calculated according to the equation
