ABSTRACT

The influence of friction, lubrication and wear on rope endurance and the dimensions of traction sheaves for extreme temperatures have been investigated. The author describes the friction process between wire rope and traction sheave, in terms of cause, process and consequence. This research is divided into: Interacting surfaces, changes in surface layers and damage to these layers. To develop a physical model of the process, analogy, dimensional analysis and quantitative analysis have been used.
