Whenever a steel wire rope is subjected to bending, mutual relative displacements of Spiral elements take place. Evidently, these displacements are accompanied with construction friction, energy dissipation and a considerable re-distribution of forces in the elements as compared with the straight rope. The relative displacements influence the bending stiffness of the rope as well. There are number of problems where it is necessary to analyze a displacement of the spiral element with respect to the remainder of the rope. It might be a simple movement of the spiral element along itself, however most often such movement is accompanied with tensile, bending and twisting deformations. In resolving such problems, various models have been used. Best known is the analysis for the additional forces or stresses arising in the rope spiral elements when bent (in German it is calied Zusatzspannung, ctzus) that were studied by Schmidt (1965), Leider (1975), Papailiou (1998) and others. In the USSR such studies were performed by Glushko (1965), Nikitin (1966), Sergejev (1968) and others
