The simulated predictions of a non-rotation resistant eight strand double parallel rope are presented and compared to experimental data. The double helix model was applied to predict the torque factor and axial stiffness under conditions of free and fixed ends. This model fully considers the double-helix configuration of each wire in the rope. Moreover, this model provides reliable predictions of the tension, bending, and torsion stress distributions along the deformed double helix wire in the straight and bent over sheave configurations. The simulated results are in a good agreement with experimental data and demonstrate the advantages of this special construction.
