RoundTable – HOW SAFE IS A ROPE? – Krakow 1981

Investigations on the wire rope durability are currently carried on in various countries in many research centers and are connected with rope manufacturers and users and also with universities. The starting point for rope durability investigations can be:
- a search for the relation between the wire or the rope quality and the
life time of the rope in certain conditions,
- investigation on the effect of operating conditions and rope construction
on its time of operation,
- investigation on the relation between the increasing rope defects in laboratory and exploitation conditions and the drop of the strength. The above mentioned investigations can have a theoretical or experimental character or can contain the both investigation elements.
