The influence of fluctuating tensile stresses on the endurance of hoisting ropes on Koepe haulage systems

At the last OIPEEC Round Table Conference in Delft 1993 a method of calculation to determine the service life of hoisting ropes on Koepe haulage systems was described. A main component of the stresses hoisting ropes are exposed to is due to fluctuating tensile stresses. From experience gained in operation and the fatigue behaviour of hoisting ropes on these haulage systems the great influence of fluctuating tensile stresses is qualitatively recognisable.
