RoundTable – HOW SAFE IS A ROPE? – Krakow 1981

 Introduction

The passage of the gin tub through the tree travel distance with its striking against the fender beams may result in breaking the hoisting rope. Automatic fangs fitted in the free travel distance protect the gin tub from dropping into the sink in such manner that the height of' a possible drop does not exceed 0,5 m.

The fangs must be constructed in such a way as to guarantee absolute safety what regards the stopping or the falling vessel as well as protect the balance ropes from excessive loading.
