Computerised maintenance management and endurance prediction of steel wire ropes on cranes

Summary

ln terms of maintenance management, regulating the discarding of wire ropes on Iifting equipment requires adaptation to modern technical possibilities. A CRAFT project aimed to realise this, is using existing measuring signals from cranes in combination with endurance calculation. The justification for the choice of the calculation method, the way to come to a forecast, the kind of calculation program, the communication between sensors and computer, adaptation of the system to the equipment and tests with the wire rope and the pilot equipment will be discussed.
