Deformation of a rope during impact from an aeroplane

The object of this paper is to examine the different hypotheses relating to the deformation of a rope during impact from a plane and to deduce certain results concerning the elongation and tensions in the rope, and to present some observations on Housner's model (described by lrvine, 1981).
