Introduction - anchor design

Anchorages have many functions as there are many variations in:

• the ropes to be anchored;
• the force to be carried;
• environmental conditions; and,
• the expectations from the anchor.

Anchorages must obey a number of basic criteria, in spite of their varied functionality.
