The Round Table "New ways for ropes" organized by the OIPEEC in Luxembourg on the 4th and 5th of October,1977, with the sponsorship of the Permanent Commission for Health and Safety in the Coal mines of the European Community, can be regarded as the continuation of the previous international meetings organized by the OIPEEC, and particularly of the last Round Table held in Milan, in September 1973, on the "Present trends in the study of the endurance of wire ropes".
