Durability and fatigue processes of improved hoisting ropes
One of the methods for improvement of the quality of steel wire ropes is the optimisation of technological-construction based parameters of the strands and rope. This paper discusses a new analytical-graphical method for designing the technological-construction parameters of the strands and rope using a new theory and computer-based computational methods. The results of fatigue tests of improved large-diameter ordinary lay and Lang’s lay ropes are discussed. The paper also presents the models from the fatigue related point of view, as well as the longitudinal and torsional characterisation of hoisting ropes.
