ENDURANCE CALCULATION of WIRE ROPES RUNNING over SHEAVES (actual form)

ABSTRACT

At the OIPEEC-Round Table in East Kilbride 1985 /1 I the author presented a method of calculating wire ropes and rope drives. Since that time the method was improved in some points, especially in considering the influence of fluctuating tensile force, of reverse bending and of wire strength. The actual form of this calculation method will be presented. With this method it is possible to evaluate the probable number of working cycles to rope discard and to rope breakage, the maximum rope tension allowed, and the optimal rope diameter.
