Recent trends In the development of wire rope Standards (ISO and domestic)

Almost everything you heard this morning and this afternoon in papers and in the reports of discussion groups is related to the fatigue life of wire ropes and associated testing. I congratulate the authors and the study groups on the very interesting and valuable data which they have brought to our attention and I wish their continued studies every success. I hope I shall not be misunderstood if I both commend the academic studies into the subject of wire rope endurance and at the same time express the hope that any recommendations resulting from this work will be related to the practical needs of the manufacturers and users of steel wire rope.
