Report on Section 2 - OFFSHORE ROPES
The papers in this section fall neatly into three groups and will therefore be discussed in the following order. The first group (papers 7 and 5) bring out the special problems of the large scale of mooring ropes for large offshore structures and discuss the various problems of establishing fatigue endurance. The second group (papers 2 and 6) address the special problem of the seawater environment of ropes in offshore applications. The third group (papers 4 and 3) are concerned with both theoretical and practical assessment of the stresses, strains, deformations and hysteresis in strand under various forms of loading.
