Research and development of a new termination for high-tensile fibre ropes
The vision to create a new generation of components and assemblies out of hybrid, intelligent light-weight modules leads to basic considerations to develop a novel termination for high-strength fibre ropes. The optimum design takes into account material properties as well as the service conditions to ensure an effective solution. In this context the Institute of Mechanical Handling and Logistics, University of Stuttgart, has undertaken numerous tensile tests and tension-tension fatigue tests to prove a system which has been designed, which is composed of a novel termination and high-strength fibre rope, with extraordinary results.
