Some remarks on the fatigue equations for ropes bending on pulleys (Part two)
RoundTable – ENDURANCE RESEARCH OF WIRE ROPE AND ITS PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS – Glasgow 1985
A few months before the Vail Colorado Assembly in august 1983, we had begun a comparative analysis of the stress formulae put forward until then for the analytical determination of the life endurance of bending wire ropes on pulleys, whilst trying to privilege the methods of a higher theoretical level and those which were least removed from the experimental values. [ 1 ] The analysis was carried out with greater reference to the O.I.P.E.E.C. research results, in particular to COMMA 1 and to interpolater formulae put forward at that time; the work carried out on them by Clément with formulae that impose the condition that damage by failure equals 1 and that the prevailing effect be the contact pressure on the pulley as already suggested by Drucker and Tachau.
