The acoustic emission inspection of wire rope
RoundTable – ENDURANCE RESEARCH OF WIRE ROPE AND ITS PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS – Glasgow 1985
A piece of equipment has been designed for the monitoring of wire rope in order to detect the failure of constituent wires. The results of experiments conducted within the laboratory, using this equipment, reveals a good correlation between the events recorded and the number of wire breaks. Experiments have been conducted under both rising load and high load fatigue conditions.
