The effect of wire breaks and overload on wire strain differences in six strand wire rope under tensile fatigue
Round Table The Application of Endurance Prediction for Wire Rope – Reading
Summary
Little is known about differences and changes in individual wire strains in a rope subject to fatigue loading conditions. This work is aimed at measuring the strains of individual wires in a rope during quasi static and tensile fatigue loading in the hope that it will shed light on the differences in fatigue endurance between ropes. To this end in a number tests the effect of individual wire breaks and rope overloads on wire strains was measured.
