The Influence of short clamps on wire and strand mobility of round strand ropes running over sheaves

When wire ropes run over sheaves, wire stresses result. These stresses have been analysed many times in order to improve methods for calculation of the local and the temporary stress situation. The comparison of these data with the results of laboratory tests should help to determine rope life and to predict or forecast the influence of damage on rope life. Tables and diagrams have been published which show the different influence of bending radius, the shape of grooves, contact angle, tensile strength, simple or reverse bending , etc.
