The influence of the flexural rigidity of a tie bending over a pulley on the efficiency of the system
The efficiency of a rope pulley, friction disc, belt drum etc. is given by the standards as an invariable number ƞ = = (0,96 - 0,98) [5, 6] in depending on the geometrical and physical parameters of the system. It is, however well known, that the flexural rigidity of a tie and the diameter ratio D/d /pulley/rope/ have a significant influence on the overhauling resistance. This effect will be theoretically tested and the results will be compared with the experiments which have been conducted by the steel ropes producer Casar GmbH – Aachen
