The LOAD TRANSFER MECHANISMS ANCHORING HIGH-STRENGTH TENSION ELEMENTS
Round Table Application of Wire Rope Endurance Research – Delft 1993
ABSTRACT
Tensile forces can exit high-strength tension elements only by means of extensive anchoring-constructions. There are about as many different anchoring constructions as there are different tension elements. But despite that there are only very few, basically different mechanisms used for the force-transfer. Their constructive application depends on the material characteristics and the structural make-up of the tension elements. Measures designed to increase the statical strength usually decrease the dynamic stress-resistance of the anchorings. The resulting failure mechanisms can be equally applied to all anchorings.
