RoundTable – HOW SAFE IS A ROPE? – Krakow 1981

  1. Introduction

A continuous increase of the output of mineral products, the growing concentration and increasing depth of winding make it necessary to construct winding gears which would meet high exploitation measurements. This work should be started on constructing such guiding systems of the gin tubs which would be able to carry exploitation loadings considerably exceeding those occurring up to now. On the other hand, the problem concerning the loading of hoist and balance ropes has not been sufficiently worked out yet and no solution found especially what regards emergency states, among others the travel of the gin tub through the so called free travel distance and the stroke against fender beams.
