The number of visible wire breaks as discarding criterion of wire ropes
The durability of the wire ropes running over sheaves is limited. They were calculated by the technical rules in such a way that the durability of the wire ropes is much longer than the period between normal inspections. In most cases there is no other discard criterion than the outside visible defects, especially the visible wire breaks. It is very easy to count the wire breaks. The lift service man or the crane
operator can do this; so the time to take off the wire rope can recognized even between the official inspections.
