The security of cable assemblies

  • €0,00

The paper identifies the vulnerability of cable assemblies and their response under extreme heat conditions. New pl"octices in the socketing methods of structural cable assemblies have been developed and proven to increase the security and functionality of cable assemblies in traditional applica~ons. The use of a refractory material as a high performance socketing medium has been shown to increase the functional operating temperature of structural cable assemblies without affecting the mechanical properties. The paper discusses the refractory material properties and details the response of socketed cable assemblies to moderate and extreme heat environments under operating loads. The paper also discusses the material response to high fatigue loads and corrosion testing. The high performance refractory socketing medium is currently installed and operating in structural applications throughout North America.
